Eagle Scout Honor Roll
The Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Scouts, BSA program. Because Scout ranks are awarded by merit, only approximately 4% of all Scouts ever put forth the effort required to complete the Eagle requirement. Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout rank has been earned by more than 2 million youth. The title of Eagle Scout is held for life, thus giving rise to the phrase “Once an Eagle, always an Eagle”.
Advancement requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges and demonstrating Scout Spirit through the Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. The last step in earning the rank of Eagle Scout is a Board of Review (BOR), where the scout meets with adult leadership and council representatives to review that all requirements were fulfilled and the highest standards maintained. Finally, Eagle Scouts are presented with a medal and a badge that visibly recognizes the accomplishments of the Scout. Additional recognition can be earned through Eagle Palms, awarded for completing additional tenure, leadership, and merit badge requirements.
We salute the demanding work and dedication put forth by all the Scouts of Troop 279 that took it upon themselves to reach the summit of the scouting trail… The rank of Eagle Scout.
